The Fair Future Base Camp In Eastern Indonesia

Let us put our minds together and see what life we can make for our children
What is Rumah Kambera?
Excerpt and introduction: Fair Future integrates into all its choices and decisions taken within the framework of its actions and field programs, the notions of risks for communities, what is good or bad for them, for people, children, villages. And for years, our mission has been to develop, support and create humanitarian programs and actions related to education, training and medical care. That's why Fair Future and Kawan Baik Indonesia created Rumah Kambera, our base camp in eastern Indonesia. A home for us, a home for them. Rumah Kambera: Rumah means 'house' or 'home' and Kambera is the name of the village. We have chosen the word "house" on purpose. Indeed, in addition to being our offices in Sumba, it is above all a place of sharing, conferences, teaching, a house for volunteers, a place where we exchange ideas, and find innovative ideas, all together with a shared vision: To improve the quality of life of people living in rural areas of East Sumba, to respond to health, food, and natural disaster emergencies.Thank you so much for your attention Kawan.

Where is Rumah Kambera?

Rumah Kambera Base Camp

A place where everyone is welcome to lend a hand, propose an aid project or collaborate with the Foundation’s volunteers and collaborators in the context of their activities and programs. Moreover, it is also a place of exchanges, conferences, training, workshops, a public garden, organic, and a place of experimentation on what works and what does not work.

A House for better living in rural areas!

Today, Fair Future and Kawan Baik Foundations face major challenges in terms of engagement in the field: Pandemic, Access to Water, children’s health, education, or the simple fact of being able to go to school! Providing medical care, drinking water, light to study, building schools, and improving solutions for access to knowledge, and primary care are our main priorities. We created, realized, and set up the project “Rumah Kambera” in this direction:

To improve the living conditions of hundreds of thousands of families and children, living in rural areas of eastern Indonesia.

As part of Rumah Kambera, we focus on the absolute emergencies, such as the Covid-19 pandemic, access to medical care, creation of solutions for sanitation and access to water drinking, access to energy sources, healthy food, but also so that more children can have access to a school and even a good education.

Why donate for Rumah Kambera?

Here, you can help us buy drugs, medical equipment, sterile equipment, needles, syringes, injectables … But also food, construction material for access to drinking water and drilling wells, or educational material for the children of the foundation. Your donation will also be used to help us treat sick people, and fight against the COVID-19 pandemic as part of our Base Camp!

A house for us, a house for them

The foundation develops and implements actions in eastern Indonesia (NTT) and notably in East Sumba. To do so, we decided to coordinate our actions from what is now; “The Fair Future Base Camp” in the eastern regions of the country. In a village near Waingapu called Lambanapu.

Rumah Kambera is its name. This -house- is a place of coordination of all our socio-medical, and educational activities in favor of children, women, and communities in rural and peripheral regions where access to water, electricity, education or health care is almost non-existent.

A place where everyone is welcome to lend a hand, offer a help project, or collaborate with the Foundation’s volunteers and collaborators as part of their activities and programs. In addition, it is also a place of exchanges, conferences, training, and workshops, a public, organic garden, and a place of experimentation of what works and what does not.

Rumah Kambera is running at full speed, the activities that take place there are extraordinary. There is a dynamic that is rarely seen. We are hundreds: Volunteers, doctors, nurses, architects, builders, logisticians, specialists in access to water … It is a magical place.

What are we doing in Rumah Kambera?

  • Covid-19 pandemic: Tests of the population, vaccinations, mapping of the situation, donation of healthy food, drinking water, information and prevention about the routes of contamination;
  • Access to clean water and sanitary facilities: Construction of central water points, drilling of wells, toilets by type, showers, biological filtration and information on the water, commit to preserve it and use it in a healthy way for people;
  • Creation and construction of school infrastructures, schools, health centers so that each can have access to health care and to school;
  • Responses in the event of natural disasters (common in the region), reconstruction, preservation, emergency care, advanced first aid station, the establishment of emergency medical care, distribution of food, water, etc…;
  • Truck of Life program: Medical care, distribution of food, construction materials, transporting medical teams to the sites, picking up a sick or injured person to bring them to the hospital, etc…;
  • And all the other social, medical, and infrastructural activities linked to the mission of the foundation in the field;

Rumah Kambera:  Rumah means “house” or “home” and Kambera is the name of the village. We chose the word “home” on purpose. This is a place of sharing, conferences, teaching, a house for volunteers, a place where we will exchange, and find innovative ideas, all together with a shared vision; to improve the quality of life of people living in rural East Sumba.

We have a lot of needs because we receive thousands of people every month! A huge thank you to all of you for your generosity!
